Terms of service

A simple agreement for a focused service.

These terms explain the subscription, your account, and the educational content provided by The World in Mandarin.

The service

The World in Mandarin provides original Mandarin learning material based on important world-news facts. A paid subscription includes the selected level by email and access to eligible website reading features. Every article is reviewed before publication, but publication is not guaranteed on a particular day if a trustworthy lesson is not ready.

Your account

Give us accurate account information, keep access to your email secure, and tell us promptly if you believe your account has been compromised. You are responsible for activity performed through your account. You must be able to enter this agreement; if you are a minor, a parent or guardian must manage the paid subscription.

Subscriptions, renewal, and cancellation

The price and billing interval are shown before checkout. Unless you cancel, the subscription renews automatically using the payment method on file. Taxes may be added when required.

You can cancel any time from your account billing controls. A cancellation stops the next renewal; access continues through the period you already paid for. Turning off daily email in settings does not cancel the subscription.

See Support & refunds for the cancellation steps and refund policy.

Refunds

Subscription charges are generally non-refundable once a billing period begins, except where applicable law requires a refund or we agree that a billing or service failure warrants one. Cancellation alone does not refund the current paid period. Contact us if you believe a charge is incorrect.

Content and permitted use

Our lessons, vocabulary, questions, design, and software are provided for your personal learning. Do not republish, sell, systematically copy, or use the service to build a competing content product without written permission. You may quote short excerpts for ordinary discussion or study where the law permits.

Educational and news limits

The service is for language learning, not investment, legal, medical, safety, or other professional advice. News develops quickly and even carefully reviewed material can contain errors or become outdated. Check primary or reputable current sources before relying on a fact.

Level labels are CEFR-guided house labels. They are not an official certification or guarantee that every learner will find a lesson equally difficult.

Availability and fair use

We may maintain, change, or discontinue parts of the service. We may restrict an account that is used fraudulently, disrupts the service, infringes rights, or materially violates these terms. Where practical, we will give notice and a chance to correct the issue.

Responsibility

We provide the service with reasonable care. To the extent permitted by applicable law, The World in Mandarin is not responsible for indirect or unforeseeable loss arising from use of the service. Nothing in these terms excludes rights or responsibilities that cannot legally be excluded.

Changes and contact

We may update these terms as the product changes. Material changes will be published here with a new date and, where appropriate, brought to subscribers' attention. Questions can be sent to Support email is not configured. Set NEXT_PUBLIC_SUPPORT_EMAIL before launch..
